Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I mark a country as visited?

A: You can mark countries as visited in two ways: 1) Tap any country on the interactive map, or 2) Tap a country in the Countries list. The checkmark will toggle the visited status.

Q: How does photo scanning work?

A: GlobeCheck reads GPS location data from your photos to automatically identify countries you've visited. We only access location metadata - never the actual photos themselves. This feature requires photo library permission.

Q: Is my data private?

A: Yes! All data is stored locally on your device. We don't collect, store, or transmit any personal information. No account is required and no data leaves your device.

Q: How do I reset my progress?

A: Go to Progress tab → About button (top right) → Reset App Data. This will remove all visited countries and cannot be undone.

Q: Can I share my progress?

A: Yes! In the Progress tab, tap the Share button (top left) to create a beautiful shareable card with your statistics. You can preview it before sharing.

Q: What iOS version do I need?

A: GlobeCheck requires iOS 17.0 or later.

Q: How many countries are included?

A: GlobeCheck includes all 195 officially recognized countries, organized by continent.

GlobeCheck is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our app.

Information Collection and Use

No Personal Data Collection: GlobeCheck does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. We do not require account creation, login credentials, or any personally identifiable information.

No Third-Party Services: We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. Your usage of the app is completely private.

Photo Library Access

When you use the photo import feature, GlobeCheck requests permission to access your photo library. This access is used exclusively to:

Read GPS location metadata (latitude/longitude) from your photos
Determine which countries you've visited based on photo locations

Important: We never access, view, copy, or store the actual photo images. Only location coordinates are read from metadata, and this processing happens entirely on your device.

Data Storage

Local Storage Only: All data including your list of visited countries and app preferences are stored locally on your device using iOS SwiftData. This data:

Remains on your device at all times
Is never uploaded to any server or cloud service
Is deleted if you uninstall the app
Can be reset using the "Reset App Data" feature in Settings

Data Security

Since all data is stored locally on your device and never transmitted over the internet, your information is protected by your device's built-in security features including encryption and device passcode/biometric authentication.

Children's Privacy

GlobeCheck does not knowingly collect any information from anyone. The app is safe for users of all ages as no data is collected or transmitted.

Sharing Features

When you use the share feature to create a statistics image, the image is generated locally on your device. You have full control over where and with whom you share this image through iOS's native sharing functionality.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Your Rights

Since we do not collect any personal data, there is no data to access, modify, or delete from our servers. You have complete control over your data through your device:

Reset all data using the in-app "Reset App Data" feature
Revoke photo library access in iOS Settings at any time
Delete all data by uninstalling the app
